Volunteer Event: Washington Middle School for Girls

As a volunteer event of ASIS&T CUA student chapter, LIS students, alumni, faculty, and their friends (Amy Chenaille, Martha Chapin, Amanda Johnson, Nfagie Kadda, Dr. Sung Un Kim, Kate Price, Katie Rodda, Sam Russell, Alisha Strother, Dr. Sue Yeon Syn, and Jessica Zeiler) visited the Washington Middle School for Girls’s (WMSG) new campus on Feb 8, Saturday, 2014. WMSG is an independent 4-8 grades Catholic Day School located in Southeast D.C.

To help them set up a library in the new campus, participants worked on cataloging, processing, shelf-reading, and shelf-signage in collaboration with Ms. Jill Gelman (Reading Specialist, WMSG) and Ms. Jennifer Froetcher (Librarian Consultant, WMSG).

asis&t is ready for Fall 2013

The Catholic University of America Student Chapter of asis&t (Association for Information Science & Technology) was on hand to recruit new members at the CUA LIS Fall 2013 orientation on August 24, 2013.

Join us and let us know about your interests, such as: general meetings, volunteer opportunities, guest lectures and networking with local professionals which will enhance students’ personal growth and career development. Membership is FREE.

So far we have had a few meetings this semester and have some great ideas for some service projects, all which will be laid out in the next week.
